Is it difficult to find a free toilet in Bratislava?
Is it difficult to find a free toilet in Bratislava? There aren't many free toilets in the streets, but it was easy to use a free toilet in museums.
Where can you find toilets in Bratislava?
Drinking water and other liquids is essential to keep hydrated in any travel. However, it can be a reason for concern if you keep keep drinking water and not have a toilet nearby!
In my experience, in central Bratislava, it is difficult to find free toilets in the streets.
However, I visited the Hrad castle in the historical center of the city and the toilet was free and clean. Other museums or similar also had free toilets.
You can also visit cafes and restaurants, but they, obviously, expect you to spend some money. Maybe, this is a great opportunity to have a drink or taste the local cuisine.
There were also paid public toilets, which are always an option.
In my case, I booked a hotel in the center of the city, thus what I did most of the times was returning to the hotel and use the toilet in my room.
Using your hotel room as basis for toilet usage is an excellent strategy since the historical center is relatively small and you can almost walk around in circles and return to the initial point (your hotel).
This strategy may not work always, since you may visit places further away from your hotel, but it is certainly a solution to explore.
How clean are the toilets in Bratislava?
Most of the bathrooms I used in Bratislava were very clean.
The toilet in Hrad castle was very clean.
Restaurants like McDonalds do struggle a little more to keep the toilet clean since there are more people using their toilets, but they were acceptable.
I did see many people just using McDonalds' toilets without paying anything, but if you want to be respectful, I feel we should at least buy a bottle of water or a coffee.
Other local restaurants had free toilets as well and they were kept very clean.
In general my experience was good with the Bratislava toilets' condition.
Conclusion
In my experience, in Bratislava, it is difficult to find free toilets in the streets. Most of the free toilets you can find are in museums.
My advice is to take the opportunity to use the toilet when you are at a restaurant or a coffee, since they do not usually charge anything.
Since Bratislava historical center is relatively small, if you book a hotel in that area, you can return to use the toilet as many times as you like. This may not always work, depending on your visiting plans, but it certainly is an option.
