Is it difficult to find a free toilet in Vienna?

Is it difficult to find a free toilet in Vienna? Yes. There aren't many free toilets in the streets. I found a few that were free in museums, but not many. However, there are many bathrooms available throughout the city in local places, most of them are paid but very clean.

Where can you find toilets in Vienna?

Drinking water and other liquids is essential to keep hydrated in any travel. However, it can be a reason for concern if you keep keep drinking water and not have a toilet nearby!

In my experience, in central Viena, it is difficult to find free toilets.

However, I did find many public toilets that were paid, but cheap, and were kept very clean.

Most McDonalds restaurants also had paid toilets, but they were well maintained and clean.

You can also visit cafes and restaurants, but they, obviously, expect you to spend some money. Maybe, this is a great opportunity to have a drink or eat something.

If you really don't want to pay, my advice is to try and go to the toilet in museums (when they are free), or when you go to a café or a restaurant.

Do not regret paying to toilet usage, since most of the are clean.

How clean are the toilets in Vienna?

Most of the bathrooms I used were paid (even though they were cheap). However, you could see where that money is going to, since all the toilets I visited were kept very clean and had paper towels, as well as toilet paper.

To me, this was particularly impressive considering the number of tourists that were visiting some of the areas I was in: mostly centrals areas in Vienna that were crowded.

Conclusion

In my experience, in Vienna, it is be difficult to find free toilets. Most of the free toilets you can find are in museums.

However, the prices charged for toilets are very low and you can see where the money is being spent, since most of the bathrooms were kept very clean.

My advice is to try and go to the toilet in museums if you can find some that are free, or take the opportunity when you are at a restaurant or a coffee, if they don't charge for toilet usage.

Please note that all McDonalds restaurants I used charged for toilet usage in Vienna.
